There's a first time for everything!

My eldest is indeed getting old...he just put himself in bed and said he wanted to take a nap! Maybe it has something to do with turning six...or maybe I'm just rubbing off on him. This momma loves a good nap! ;)

Wordless Wednesday.

Tommy (my nephew), my late Grandpa, and Jonathan- fall 2002.
(This is really all I have time for. I've had Luke again the last few days and life here is crazy! You want to guess how many poopie diapers I've changed?!)

Look who turned SIX!

That's right my eldest turned SIX today! He's been talking about it for weeks now! He wanted these 4 things:
  1. A chocolate cake with strawberries.
  2. A helicopter.
  3. Soldier guys
  4. A four wheeler with a controller.
He got everything he wished for! We woke up this morning and didn't make it to Sunday school (we went to the morning service though) because we celebrated Jonathan's birthday instead. We had cake for breakfast, opened presents and then changed and went to church. For lunch we went to McDonald's playland. I think he is a very happy six year old! Wow how time flies! Jonathan is an amazing little man and we (Tim and I) are truly blessed to call him our son. You can read about Jonathan's birth story here. Needless to say, six years ago today I was VERY sore.

~Six years ago today. Jonathan and I were both beyond tired and sore. We were both very beat up- it had been a long two days! In the end it was all worth it and I'd do it all over again if I had to in order to have my Jonathan. (Yes, I look like death warmed over- read his birth story. You'll understand why!)
~Jonathan today! What a handsome boy he's become!

You know you wanna'!

Kiss those chubby, little cheeks all over!

...for my lack of blogging. Life has been interesting. Nothing too much going on...just interesting. Right now I am watching my nephew, Luke, for a few days. My sister has jury duty. She was picked (one out of ten jurors) out of 150 people to be part of a jury panel for a pretty high profile case in Chicago. For some reason having a child with special medical needs wasn't excuse enough not to be picked. The judge felt she had enough family she could leave him with while she was gone. The poor little man hasn't seen his momma since Friday. =( I don't know if I feel more sorry for Courtnie or for Luke. This baby has got to be one of the most adaptable babies I've ever known though! He is very good natured and loves meeting new people! He's a joy to have around and worth the extra work of medication giving and airway clearance treatments. Oh, and the exploding, poopie (cf) diapers in the morning! ;) So, that's my excuse for not blogging much this week. Maybe I'll pop back in sometime today or tomorrow and post a picture of this adorable, little being called, Luke. Really, he'll make your heart melt into goo...really, he will...

Oh NO he didn't?!

Oh YES, he did! My dear eldest son took the scissors to his unsuspecting younger brothers yesterday (supposedly while I was baking cookies)! I was playing with Noah's hair (like I do so often because I've always loved my boys thick hair)- when I noticed something wasn't quite right. The first thought that went through my mind was, "I know I didn't do that poorly at cutting their hair last week, did I?!". Then it hit me- like a ton of had to be JONATHAN!!!! So I asked him, "Jonathan you didn't cut your brother's hair did you? Please, please tell me you didn't!" He looked at me sheepishly, hesitant to answer. I knew the answer even before Austin piped in with, "Yes, and he cut mine too!". gotta be kidding me! Sure enough Austin also had about ten sporadically spaced bald spots on his head too. So, what did I do? I got the clippers out and went to town- the whole time trying not to kill our firstborn and trying to keep my lunch down! For some reason the thought of shaving off my boys' thick hair made my stomach turn, but it had to be done- they looked like they had mange! I also shaved Jonathan's hair off- I thought it'd teach him a lesson. Turns out he loves his new 'do'. Grrr...anywho, they still have 'bald' spots but if I'd go any closer to their skin it'd look like I have three little cancer patients. So, alas, bald spots they'll have to have...and I know, hair does grow back...sigh...oh, and remind to put the scissors up out of reach from little fingers!

Please, don't laugh too hard...

Okay...people, it's really, not that funny!
Really, it's not!

Yep, not much going on here!

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged, but honestly, not a whole lot has been going on around here. Tim started his new job Tuesday and so far I think he likes it. He's been working 10 hour days and he gets overtime tomorrow. He was told yesterday that they have been working 6 days a week. He'll be working almost 60 hours again, but at least now he'll get payed for it. Ha! =) Yesterday they gave him his own workbench and are ordering him some new drills and tools. He also got moved to the architectural part of the shop and out of the production side. They gave him some funky, custom project thing to build. He's much happier doing more custom, intricate pieces than your basic production stuff. He's talented and skilled and likes to have projects that challenge him. He's also trying to get used to not being able to control his own environment. He's adapting well though. I'm so proud of him and I am so glad he's happy. Anyway, not a whole lot else going on. I'll update as soon as something (anything) exciting happens. Take care!

Our camping trip.

We so much fun on our camping trip! If you don't camp as a family I recommend you do it- or at least try it. We camped at a beautiful western Wisconsin state park (Wyalusing State Park). We had beautiful weather the whole time! It was amazing- it wasn't even all! As I said before, we brought our bikes along but unfortunately only used them once since the park was so extremely hilly that is was just too much for us to handle. My mom, Bethany (my sister) and I did go on one hike, but allot of the trails were closed due to mudslides. Tim, Bethany, the boys and I went go-carting, toured an old mansion, and went canoeing (the boys stayed back with my mom for the canoe trip). I also played a little tennis with my mom and Bethany- I haven't done that in years! It felt wonderful to be outdoors and to be active almost all day long. The boys had a blast! They got to run and be outside all day. They got to roast marshmallows every night and cook supper over a campfire. They got to be boys- pure and simple. If you have boys camping is almost a must...well, in my humble opinion it is. ;) Here are a few pictures from our trip- hope you enjoy!

(Our camping site with our new (to us) camper. We love our camper!)

(Another view of our camper- that slide-out dinette is awesome! It gives you so much more space!)

(The mansion we toured.)

(The gate leading to the mansion. The grounds were beautiful!) (My boys...)
(Family picture.)
(The boys in front of the artisan (sp?) well.)

(Jonathan found a creek and a stick.)

(Tim and his 'mini-me'.) (Bethany at the fireworks.)
(The beautiful sunset.)
(Noah and Aunt Bethany overlooking the ridge at sunset.)

(Our campfire.) (Tim on the way home. Don't you love his white spot? I do. )
(Austin on the way home. He had asked to have his picture taken, and yes, I see that he has his seat belt on wrong...naughty boy.)
(My Noah...what a happy baby.)

I'm back!

We had a wonderful time! I don't have time to write today- Tim is home (he starts his new job tomorrow) and we have errands to run. I'll try to write a post tomorrow and include some pictures. It's so nice to be home...well, kind of. ;)

I have been absent...

...for good reason! Tim and I have been preparing for and planning a big camping trip for this weekend. We leave early Thursday morning to head up into the Wisconsin hills for an enjoyable (hopefully!) 4th of July weekend. We bought Tim a bike, Jonathan a tandem bike (a 'bike' that hooks to an adult bike), and a bike rack. We bought the two older boys camo sleeping bags, crocks for all (we wear them in the showers) and other misc. camping 'stuff'. It's been an expensive day! We are looking forward to finally being able to hit the trails with our bikes as a whole family- so much fun! We are meeting my mom, step dad and baby sister up there. They brought bikes too- except my step father. I'm bringing my camera and am going to take loads of pictures. I'll try to share them with you next week. Also...I've been sewing like a maniac! Besides the diapers I've been working on, I made two skirts Saturday, one wool soaker yesterday and two pairs of plaid shorts tonight. It feels so good to be behind my sewing machine again! I need to get pictures taken of me with my new skirts and shorts on so you can see what I've been working on. I love being able to wear something unique and unlike anything anyone else has! Well, I gotta run- it's late (well, kind probably feels later than it really is...), and I should get ready for bed. We've got a busy day ahead of us tomorrow! Happy 4th of July weekend everyone! I'll be back next week!
