Happy New Year!

Just stopping in to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm starting out 2009 fresh with a new haircut. (It feels so good to get your hair cut and colored doesn't it?) refreshing! I don't know if my husband is all too thrilled with the length but I'm lovin' the ease of it. It feels so healthy again! Anywho, here's a few pictures of my new do. (My belly looks tiny in this picture...rather deceiving really.)

The back view (well, sort of). I had the beautician cut about 6 inches off. My hair had gotten really, really long and as much as my dear husband loved it I just couldn't handle it anymore (the tangles after my showers in the morning were horrific!). Plus, it will grow back and mine grows at super speed. I mean literally- it grew about 4-6 inches in a matter of 5 months. Must be a pregnancy thing...hmm...

Also- here's the most recent belly picture. Taken last week at 22 weeks 4 days (approximately). I can tell in this picture where all the holiday goodies having been going...uhem...and it's not all to my belly.

Our Christmas.

We had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you all did too! The boys got homemade gifts (scarf, hat, gloves), a movie and a huge tent/fort thing this year. We had a lean Christmas this year and yet, the boys still had a blast yesterday. We gave them candy (in their stockings) and we watched movies all day. It was a very nice, relaxing Christmas. We stayed home and just enjoyed our time with each other. I couldn't be any happier with how it turned out. Tonight we'll be going to Tim's parent's house. Tim's dad just had his appendix out so, I thought I'd bring over dinner. I'm thinking of bringing cheesy chicken and rice, a veggie and fried apples (so yummy!). They don't eat wheat so I have to plan a meal accordingly. Well, I don't have a whole lot of time to write so I'll just post a few pictures of our day yesterday. I'm not posting any of the boys opening their gifts because my camera was acting up and so I had to use my flash. Blah. They look kind of crummy...well, in 'my' opinion anyway. =) They have shadows and I detest shadows behind people (in pictures that is). Anyway, take a look and have a wonderful weekend!

We had delicious homemade cinnamon rolls. These are just as good if not better than the ones you get in the mall- a whole lot cheaper too!

This is the best shot I could get of Noah. He wasn't cooperating all too well.

The boys got to play in the snow with their new winter gear. They had a blast!

The boys' fort they got for Christmas.

Jonathan was crying because he said his feet were frozen. He wanted me to rub them and I was too busy taking pictures. Yes, I'm a bad mom. I guess I need to get my priorities sraight...

I'm showing this one to his wife someday- I love the snot. It's a combination of playing out in the cold and crying.

I had to take a picture of his feet since he was making such a big deal out of them. =)

Austin is my photographic child (well, when it comes to me taking the pictures.). I have so many of him from yesterday but I thought I'd limit it to one. ;)

(Tim doesn't like this picture. He says his head looks twice it's size. I still like it so, I'm posting it.)

Tim and Noah.

Seven things about me.

Brittany from 4 Little Men and Twins (girls!) did this and since I was one of the first seven to comment I'm going to play along too!

The Rules:
*Link to the person who tagged you.
*Share 7 random/weird facts about you.
*Tag 7 people at the end of the post, and include links to their blogs.

1. I can't tolerate the cold! Don't ask me why I live in northern Illinois. This below zero weather we've been having is killing me!

2. Tim and I are very, seriously contemplating moving south sometime between 2-5 years. Each winter is harder on us. If the Lord would send a decent job along for Tim somewhere south we'd jump on it- in a heartbeat!

3. I love Christmas but I detest going shopping during this time of year. People are nuts! Last night I made a trip to Target and I had to park at the very back of the parking lot. I had to walk about 1/2 a mile (okay- maybe a little over-exaggeration) in the below zero weather with the freezing wind whipping my face. It was not fun. It also took me about 10-15 minutes just to get out of the parking lot! Crazy I tell ya, just crazy.

4. I get really big with my pregnancies! My stomach gets huge! I always start out in small maternity shirts, then I move on to medium (what I'm currently in), then to large and I could use an x-large by my last month but I'm too cheap to buy any x-large shirts for just a few weeks. I think I'm going to get pretty big with this baby. My older sister was oh, so kind to let me know the other night that I was HUGE already. She then had to ask me when I was due and proceed in telling me that she couldn't believe I have that much time left. Sigh...oh well, this is just what I do. I'm sure I'll get the 'twins' question sometime soon too. I have with all my others. Anyway, moving on...

5. I want to go back to school within the next couple of years. I want to get my nursing degree. I then want to eventually go back again to become a certified nurse midwife. Yes, it will probably be allot of school but I know it will be worth it. It's something I've always wanted to do.

6. I don't normally like chocolate. I usually only like it right before 'that time of the month' or when I'm pregnant. When I'm not pregnant I have absolutely no desire for it. That can be a very good thing though- especially when I'm trying to lose baby fat. ;)

7. I don't really enjoy homeschooling but I do it for my husband. I do take comfort in knowing how much money we're saving by teaching them at home though (we'd only send them to a Christian school if we didn't home school). If we didn't we wouldn't be able to afford the house we're living in. Hmm...I wonder if we could afford any house?!

I'm going to go against the rules and not tag anyone. Whoever wants to play along feel free!

So far I've completed the following this week:

1~ Christmas present for my sister, Courtnie. We draw names at Christmas and I got hers. Our family (on my side) as grown too large for us to buy presents for everyone so we've resorted to drawing names. ;) I like it better this way! Sorry that I can't share with you what I made but she reads my blog. I'll share after our Christmas get together Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to include a picture. =)

2~ My sister Bethany's Christmas present. Tim got her name.

3~ A winter hat for Jonathan, Austin and Noah.

4~ A maternity top for me.

5~Maternity slacks for me (minus the hem and a few little touch ups).

I still need to finish:

1~ Scarves for the boys. I just have to serge around these so I should be able to whip these up within a few minutes.

2~ Pajama pants for the boys. They've been bugging me to make them something with some 'Batman' fabric that I've had for some time now. They'll be so happy!

3~ Possibly a maternity Christmas dress for myself.

I've been officially bitten by the sewing bug! I wish I'd stay this way- I'd get so much done!

No time to blog...

I'm too busy sewing Christmas presents. So far, everything has turned out really cute. I hope everything else does too. ;) Will try to post some pictures...not promising anything though...

Update on us.

Well, nothing new or exciting has been going on. Tim is still 'technically' out of work. His boss called Tim last week and told him he wanted him back. He said he was going to let him know for sure this week and we still haven't heard anything yet. It's kind of frustrating- the whole waiting game. We've also been getting hospital bills lately. It's just crazy how much everything costs! We are hopefully going to get those covered though. We're working on it. Fun times...anyway, luckily we've been able to pay our mortgage and all our bills. God has provided all our needs and I know he will continue to. I just pray Tim can either find another job soon or God will allow him to go back to his old job (which would be ideal!). I think we should know something at least by next week. Tim is staying busy. He's been helping out a friend from church so I think it's been keeping his mind off it- for the most part. Our friends have been a huge blessing and encouragement to us throughout this whole thing. God has really blessed us with good friends- for which we are extremely grateful.

The pregnancy seems to be going along pretty uneventfully. My pregnancies are usually pretty normal. I've been gaining weight about like I always have. The least I've gained with any of my pregnancies is 47 pounds (the most was 55). I'm pretty sure I'll get close to that again....sigh. I don't mind except that it's such a struggle losing it- it takes longer each time. I had finally gotten down to my pre-pregnancy weight (before Noah) a month before I got pregnant with this little guy. Kind of depressing but I know he will be worth it. At least I've discovered what works. I simply cut wheat out of my diet and I lose pretty quickly. It just takes allot of discipline- because I love wheat (bread, pizza, cinnamon rolls, ect.)! Anywho, I hope it doesn't sound like I'm complaining because honestly, I feel very blessed to be having another son. Which brings me to something else- I'm going to have 4 boys! Can you believe it?! How crazy is that?! Part of me still would like a girl someday but at the same time I'm also thinking this may be my last pregnancy. I'd be content with 4 boys and 4 boys only. We may have one left in us, but we're not quite sure. Tim is 12 1/2 years older than me and is starting to feel as if his quiver is full. He's mentioned trying for five and really 'trying' for a girl that time around. He says if we don't get a girl again than he thinks we're done. I guess some people just can't make girls. Oh well, I did always say if I'm going to have one gender I'd much rather them be boys than girls. ;)

The boys are doing great! Jonathan is doing awesome in school and Austin is counting and writes his name already. He (Austin) won't officially start kindergarten until next year. Noah is turning into a little boy and not a baby anymore. He loves his daddy and has been loving this extra time he's had with him. Tim is pretty fond of him too (as he is with all his boys). The two older boys are so excited about the new baby. I know they will all make excellent big brothers.

The house is great! I have never felt more at home in a house than I do here. Like Tim said last night- this house is part of our family now. We have never regretted buying this house. I've felt an incredible peace about it from the moment I saw it. We love it here! It's so beautiful and we got an incredible price on it! I still can't believe it's ours! The boys have so much room and I have a wonderful sewing room. It's big enough to have people over and it stays nice and warm (unlike our house last year!) in the winter. I'm looking forward to putting our little 'stamp' on it. Noah's room is still hot pink. I've been wanting to re-paint it since we've moved in but I wanted to wait until we knew the gender of the new baby. Now that we know I'm hoping to get that room done soon. I'm thinking about doing a western theme. I'm really itching to start it. It shouldn't cost much. I have some tan paint and I would only have to buy a small can of a coordinating color. I'm doing bandannas for the valance and they have western pictures at Hobby Lobby for cheap (and usually half off!). I'll take pictures and post them once I'm done. Pray we can find Noah a twin bed for cheap and a baby crib set for cheap. Noah's currently using a crib mattress that's just laying on the floor. We have a bed frame for him. We just need a mattress.

Well, I think I've about covered it all. I gotta get my shower in and I should starting sewing some Christmas presents (going to be a cheap Christmas this year). I'll try to post a little more than I have been. I have just felt lately that I didn't have a whole lot to really post about. I'll try to do better....really, I will.

Wordless Wednesday

Baby belly- 19 weeks 4 days (taken last Friday). Can you tell I've gained 18 pounds already? Yep, you read that matter what I do I've been consistently gaining about 4-5 pounds a month. Ugh...this is just what I do when I'm pregnant. I've accepted it...or at least tried to...

The opposite side. It's harder than you think trying to take a self-potrait...I didn't do so hot this time around. Maybe I'll do better next time. ;) (Don't you just love seeing our toilet in every shot?!)

Homemade Hot Chocolate

Creamy Hot Cocoa

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa

3/4 cup white sugar

1 pinch salt

1/3 cup boiling water

3 1/2 cups milk

3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

half and half cream (optional)

Combine the cocoa, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan. Blend in the boiling water. Bring this mixture to a boil while you stir. Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Make sure it doesn't burn. Stir in 3 1/2 cups of milk and heat until very hot (do not boil). Remove from heat and add vanilla. Divide into mugs and stir in half and half cream (if desired). Can add marshmallows too! Yummo!

He's still a boy! I had my 20 week scan today and everything looks great...well, besides my five pound weight gain (in a month!)... oh well, I guess it's worth it. =)

It's real life!

I've never joined in on any of the 'It's Real Life' themes but for some reason I decided I'd give it a go this time. This week's theme is: Store it- Kitchen. It involves taking pictures of your kitchen cupboards/storage- untouched. I promise I didn't clean anything up. This is really how my kitchen looked before I decided to do this. I'm warning you though- this is a very lengthy post. I have allot of storage in my kitchen and I didn't know where to stop. Anyway, enjoy taking a peek into my kitchen and feel free to join in on the fun (?)! (Click on the image to see others!)

The first cupboard I'm going to show you is the one that contains my cookbooks, recipes and mugs. I'm in this cupboard daily. The bag on the top shelf contains baby bottles.

Our cup and glass cupboard!

Top of our fridge. A cake dish and a basket full of pot n' pan holders, dish towels and dish rags.

Top shelf- tea. Middles shelf- oils, syrup, vinegars, cooking spray and some spices. Bottom shelf- spices.

This is where I store our toaster, plates, bowls,a lone cookbook and some baking dishes.

Under my sink. Dishwasher liquid, bread machine and grocery bags (for dirty diapers of course!).

This where I store baking items, brown sugar, flour, my mixer, coffee grinder, coffee filters and my measuring cups. Are we having fun yet?!

My large utensil holder thingy. Right by the stove.

My counter with my flour and sugar canisters and my coffee maker. Seriously, I didn't clean this up. I'm just weird about cleanliness.

My lid drawer. Nothing to say here.

My utensil drawer. You can tell I didn't straighten this one up. It's a mess in there!

These shelves store mixing bowls, baking pans, ect. Nothing to thrilling in here.

Food drawers (which I love!). The top one holds canned goods, rice, noodles and whatever else finds it's way in there. The bottom holds mainly cereal and oatmeal. Isn't this exciting?

My knife drawer- pretty self-explanatory really.

A little blurry for some reason but you get the picture. This is where my pans and crock pot go. Well, and that gallon of water that's been sitting there since we moved in almost three months ago. We have a (under the sink) reverse osmosis water filtering system now and don't have a need for bottled water anymore. It's awesome! Fresh tasting, yummy water whenever you want it and it's free (well almost...)!

I store all our vitamins and fruit in these bowls. I find that I'll remember to take my prenatals if they're out in plain view. That way I won't forget (as easily).

My stereo for listening to Christmas music while I cook. I promise I didn't clean this up. I'm just picky about my kitchen. I love cleaned off counter tops. It's my little OCD thing so leave me alone. ;)

I thought I'd snap a picture of my cleaning items I keep in a corner in my kitchen. Being I use these every meal I keep them out in an easy to reach area. Yep, they're not hidden but when you have three littles making messes constantly you could care less. Anyway, this is real life isn't it?

My sink- untouched. I did wash up those pizza pans shortly before doing this, but that was before I decided to do this. So, it's really not cheating, is it? Nah...I didn't think so. Yes, that is our chicken thawing for tonight's dinner.

Well, I think that about sums up my tour. Maybe next time I join in it will be more interesting than my kitchen. We'll see...

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...

Look at all the snow we got! It's really beginning to feel like Christmas. Time to snuggle in with a good cup of hot chocolate. (Which reminds me, I found a good recipe for hot chocolate- I'll post the recipe soon.)

Tim had to spend some time outside shoveling our sidewalk and driveway. We got more snow than we had expected! Yes, that hat is very warm...

Inside it's nice and cozy with my Christmas decor up. Unfortunately, this is the only room I've decorated. I lack the finances and energy to do anything else. What does your house look like this time of year? I'd love to see your Christmas decor!
