Tomato Basil Pizza

I made Tim and I this pizza for dinner tonight and I loved it! I'd been wanting to try something like this for awhile and decided tonight would be a good time. This is how I did it. I made my favorite pizza dough (part wheat flour). Rolled it out on to my pizza pan and brushed olive oil and crushed garlic over the dough. I also sprinkled some garlic salt over it...just because. ;-) I then spread chopped basil leaves, sliced tomatoes and fresh mozzarella over the dough. I finished it off with a sprinkling of salt and pepper. I would've loved to have added some parmesan cheese but we didn't have any. =( Oh well...there's always next time. Anyway, here's a picture of the pizza before I put it in the oven...isn't it beautiful?!

I cooked the pizza for about 20 minutes in a 425 degree oven.

Now doesn't that look good enough to eat?! It was too...maybe a just bit more garlic and cheese and it would've been perfection. I will definitely be making this again and soon!

What do you think? Are we growing? ;-)

Green Smoothie

Tim and I have been drinking green smoothies for breakfast and I thought I'd share with you how we make ours. I really like them and they're super healthy (and easy) for you! The main ingredient is spinach but the interesting thing is you can't even taste it in the smoothie.

Throw your spinach (about 3 cups or so)and some juice (to thin it out) into your blender. Blend it up...

Now grab yourself some yogurt, frozen fruit and a banana. Today I'm using frozen blueberries but we've also tried peaches and strawberries. All are good. I try and use the same basic flavor of yogurt.

Now throw them into your blender. Blend it up until chunks are gone and pour into a glass.

Now enjoy and don't be fooled by the really is yummy! =) (Today it turned out more purple than green. Most days it looks like swamp water...or slime. My boys call it green poison...)

Baby update.

Not a whole lot new when it comes to my pregnancy but I thought I'd share a few little tidbits anyway. I'll be 36 weeks Monday...but today is the 27th and I'm due on the 27th of next month sooooo technically I'm due a month from today...wa-ho!!! By my doctor's opinion he could come as soon as 1- 1 1/2 weeks. In fact she'd prefer if he did...she shouldn't even say such things to me...I know better! I've never gone on my own, let alone gone 'early' on my own! Anyway, I'm still gaining like a champ. I was hoping the weight gain would slow down a bit but it hasn't. I don't understand it. I don't eat any different then before I got pregnant. In fact, I probably eat a whole lot better! I eat mostly fruits, veggies (lots of spinach!), rice, yogurt, whole grains, chicken and fish. I've cut back on red meat (maybe eat it 2-3x's a month) and haven't had cheese in the house for quite some time now (which is amazing...I LOVE cheese!). It just doesn't make sense. Which is why my doctor is wanting to do another ultrasound in 2 weeks. She's afraid of me having another 'monster' baby. She is hoping I'll go before then (HA!!!) and than we wouldn't have to worry about the baby's size sItalico much. Uhm, well...I don't think I will. I just think it would be funny if I gained the most weight I ever have and he ends up being my smallest baby. That would be ironic, don't you think?! I hope that's not the case though- I need an excuse for all the weight I've gained! ;-) Other than that though everything is going well. I really can't complain. I'll keep you updated...d-day is quickly approaching! It's getting exciting!!! (I'll post a belly picture next week- after I've reached 36 weeks.)

Been busy...

I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've been on here but I've been busy with 'other' things. One of those things being sewing. Just yesterday I sewed myself a tote bag for the hospital. I tried a new pattern and I'm lovin' it! It was easy and turned out sooo cute! I had found the pattern last week while shopping and forked over the money and paid full price for it (usually I wait until paterns go on sale). That's how much I wanted it. I'm glad I did. I think it may be my new favorite bag style. Anyway, look below at the pictures and let me know what you think.

In other news...I'm very uncomfortable these days! I haven't been sleeping very well. My belly aches and I have a hard time putting my legs together when I'm sleeping (separated pubic bone...ouch!). Which makes for a very horrible night's sleep since I'm a side sleeper. Plus, when you're as far along pregnant as I am you can't sleep on your back or stomach anyway. Don't even get me started on trying to flip sides at night! This baby is getting heavy...heavier by the day (literally!). I've also been retaining water...alot! Yesterday was really bad...I didn't have ankles! Sundays are always the worse! I don't know if it's from sitting for long periods of time. It's just plain frustrating. I'm 35 weeks today so it makes sense that I am so miserable. It will only get worse before it gets better. I'm seeing the doctor every week now. Yep, I'm definitely getting closer. Which makes me a little nervous. I know I've had three babies before but I'm so not looking forward to labor and delivery. I never know what to expect and my labors tend to be long and miserable. I keep asking people if they'll do it for me and no one seems to want to! Oh well....I guess I'll do it...but wouldn't that be great if someone else would do it for you?! ;-) Anyway, next week (36 weeks) I'll take another belly picture. I think he's grown again (well, I know he's grown!). I feel/look bigger just about every day now. Even though I'm miserable right now I am very grateful everything is going well with the pregnancy and baby seems to be healthy. Others have it so much worse and I guess I shouldn't be complaining at all. Well, I'll try to get around to posting again this week. It all depends on how things go and if I find the time to do it. Until then have a great week! (This Monday has been a whole lot better than last Monday...)

You know it's Monday when: kids drag you out of bed begging you for breakfast. finally get up only to find that they have already helped themselves to about a stick of butter and 'toasted' English muffins. discover your husband accidentally took your cell phone which acts as your mobile and home phone. He won't be back until late. do bills and discover that you're late on a couple and that you can't pay them online. Of course you can't call and pay it over the phone because you don't have your phone. Oh well...snail mail is going to have to do.'re out of coffee. still haven't gotten your shower at it's past 10:30 a.m. have about ten loads of laundry to do...and it's all just from the weekend!

...the floors need to be swept.

...the floors need to be mopped. need to go grocery shopping. have packages to mail out but dread the thought of taking the kids to the post office.

...your youngest is crabby, has a snotty nose and is starting to cough and sound like a chain smoker.'re tired and it's not even lunch time.

Random pictures...

I thought I'd show you what I do when Jonathan's doing school...I play with my camera! Usually the lighting is the best for taking pictures so I take advantage and snap away. It may not make sense to you why I'd take a picture of a box of colored pencils but I'm really just experimenting. Sometimes the most random pictures turn out the best...strange how that happens. I didn't have much else to post about so I thought I'd post these 'random' pictures. I hope to show you Noah's finished room soon. It's really turned out cute! We have the baby's crib set up, a mattress for Noah's bed and pictures hung on the wall. I'm very happy with the outcome! Until then though- enjoy these few random pictures...

Wordless Wednesday...

(Just had to prove that he doesn't always have his sippie cup in his mouth...)

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Only when you're pregnant... you have mornings like I've had this morning. Okay, so some of the reason may be that Noah was up sick half the night and I only got a good 2-3 hours of sleep but nonetheless, I've had an interesting morning. I've noticed that once I've reached the last 6-8 weeks of my pregnancies things get uhm...weird. Take this morning for example. Already I've spent 30-45 minutes trying to figure out my husband's goofy wireless, bluetooth mouse and keyboard for his computer (so the kids could watch a Netflix movie). I ended up having to re-install it all. Fun, fun. I then decided to fill the dishwasher and discovered that it still needed to be unloaded. Half the dishes were still dirty (grrr....). As I was putting away the silverware I dropped about half onto the floor (don't ask me how!). Bending over is almost near impossible at this was hard work. I then decided to make myself some coffee but had to dispose of the old coffee grinds first. I totally missed the garbage (once again, don't ask me how!) and they spilt all over the floor. After cleaning up that mess I get my coffee going and made my breakfast. Nothing (thankfully) happened to it and I was able to enjoy it. My sister than calls and my phone starts beeping at me. I have to look throughout the whole house trying to locate the charger. Fortunately I found it and it is charging as I type this. Of course, I know things could be worse but I'm just giving you an example of my clumsiness as of late. Things just get plain weird when I'm this far along in my pregnancy. Meals I've prepared for years and never have had a problem with end up turning out horrible. I just can't cook for some reason. I try but it's pointless. The food I prepare just flops. I trip, stumble, run into walls and drop things constantly. My brain seems to turn to mush. I can't remember anything and I get easily confused. I'm obssessed with crunching ice and am addicted to the smell of laundry detergent and clean linen scents (noooo, I don't want to eat it though!). I'm just not myself. All I know is I've done this three times before and have survived it. I will this time too. I can make it another 7 weeks...I think I can...I think I can....

(I hope I don't sew my finger today while I'm finishing up some projects...I have done that before and well...pulling thread out of your finger is not cool...not cool at all...)

Watch out for the crabby pregnant woman!

I think I've officially reached that stage of pregnancy. You know...that cranky, crabby stage. Every little thing grates on my nerves. Take for with Jonathan. If he is the least bit hesitant I get aggravated...very aggravated. He likes to drag his feet and it just irritates me! Plus, we're near the end of our school year and I think I'm in need of a break. A much needed break. Also- it's still winter. I'm through with winter. I'm through with the cold and I've just plain had my fill of it! I'm ready for Spring and Summer. I'm ready for flowers, green grass, rain showers, cook outs and the sound of crickets. I LOVE Summer!!! I always hate seeing it end. I think (know) I'm a southern girl at heart. Last week we had a 67 degree day and it was wonderful! I was so happy the whole was pure bliss! I had the windows open and the fresh air made my house smell so clean and fresh...mmmm. The Midwest irritates me. Warm weather one day and the next it's cold again. It plays with your psyche and it's just not nice. I'm also not sleeping well. Tossing and turning all night long. And believe me, tossing and turning when your heavily pregnant is NOT easy. It hurts every time I flip sides! My shoulder has been aching and throbbing and I can't figure out why. My legs are restless, my whole body itches, I wake up to use the restroom at least 4-5 times a night, I've been having the most bizarre dreams, the baby squirms and puts his feet in my ribs, I have heartburn and it just plain makes for a miserable night's rest. I've been tired through out the day because of my lack of a good night's sleep. This is most likely my reason for being crabby. This momma needs her beauty rest! I know I'll probably just get testier and moodier before the baby comes. The last month is always pure misery. I have always said I sleep much better after the baby is here than before. At least when the baby is sleeping I get good, sound sleep. Sigh. I'm just crabby. Anyway, I'll stop whining now. I have to go take my shower and get ready. I have to go to the grocery store with all three of the very large, pregnant self. It should be so...much....FUN!!! (Maybe just a little bit of sarcasm there!)

Baby Update

Well, we had another ultrasound today and baby seems to be measuring around 5 lbs. 3 oz. He is in about the 80th percentile. So big but not 'too' big. He will probably be within the 9-9 1/2 pound range at 40 weeks. Just the right size. Big enough to be healthy but small enough to push out easily. Perfect. We'll see....anyway, here is the most recent belly shots. Taken today.

32 weeks 3 days.

Wordless Wednesday

(Just because this shows his personality so well. He doesn't care how goofy he looks...he just likes the attention. Oh the drama!!! )
