So...it's been awhile.

Sorry it's been so long since I posted last but frankly, life has just happened. I've also had a serious lack of motivation to do much of anything. It's been pretty gloomy in our neck of the woods the last few weeks. I've been sleeping allot. I think I've been dealing with a touch of postpartum blues. Last week was especially hard for me. I was very sad and melancholy about Grant growing and changing so quickly. I think seeing how tiny and new my niece is made me realize it even more. He's already 11 weeks old! He smiles and coos, rolls over, sits in his bumbo seat, weighs 14 1/2 pounds, is down to 6-8 feedings ( he's still solely breastfeeding), and sleeps 9-10 hours straight through at night. It's gone way too fast! He may be our last too which makes it even harder to see him grow up so fast. Sigh. My baby isn't a newborn anymore. =(

I've also been trying to potty-train Noah. Ugh!!! It's not going so well! He refuses to go on the toilet. He'll sit there but do nothing. The minute I take him off he'll go. I bought him some cloth training pants and I'm going to try those. I haven't been wanting to deal with the 'messes' but I think I'm going to have to in order for him to get it. This child wears his mother out! I love him to death but man,oh, man, he's a handful! I think he is the equivalent of 2 two and a half year olds. Yesterday he found a jar of blue-dyed sugar crystals and ate the whole thing! He was full of energy the whole day!! He didn't take his nap and he didn't fall asleep until 10:00 that night! It was an interesting day.Let's just say food coloring, sugar and Noah do NOT mix well! Anyway, if anyone has any helpful tips on potty-training let me know!
I've also been sewing allot. I have three bag orders to get done within the next couple of days and I've done a few things for my Etsy shop. Yesterday I made this dress. It's a size 18-24 months and it's pretty cute. Almost makes me want a girl! ;-) Let me know if you ever need anything- I take custom orders!

Well, that pretty much sums it up. Nothing too exciting. Wish I had some cooler post ideas but I'm just not creative like that.

Absolutely ADORABLE pic of Grant! He does look like a big boy ~ love his expression!

In comparison, my lil' dude man looks so little (I do have little babies). Also, he's fairly bald, which adds to the "baby" look. Let's see, Micah is right at 4 months. I can't believe how quickly it is passing....

And make sure not to be too hard on yourself. Sometimes it just takes a while to get back to feeling "normal". A good friend of mine told me it took her longer and longer with each subsequent child. She didn't necessarily have the "baby blues" but just didn't quite feel herself, wasn't able to get as much done (lack of motivation) and yes, she just slept more. I think it's God's way of making sure we don't push ourselves too hard, too fast.

You just had your fourth lil' baby boy ~ relax and just love on your babies while you can!!

Beautiful boys~

Sarah, I have often wished that our paths crossed more so we could get to know each other better. I am glad though that we can at least be blogging buddies.

Hello Sarah,

We don't know each other, but I have been following your blog for sometime now! Don't remember how I got "linked" to it, but I very much enjoy your take on the mothering of boys, as well as much of all the other "stuff" you do!! The Lord has blessed me with three boys (ages 15.5, 13.5, and 12), followed by two boys now in heaven that I carried to about 20 weeks...and have also been blessed with two little girls (ages 6.5 and 5). My home is blessedly full! I am a happy wife, stay-at-home mother, homeschooler starting my 11th year in the fall, stage 4 cancer survivor and MOST OF ALL, lover of the Lord! So, there's a little about me...since I know so much about you!

Today, I feel very led to respond to your current potty-training situation. I KNOW where you're at! But, fear not, Noah will stop wearing diapers...just maybe not in your time. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned as a mother is to wait upon the Lord. So often, I've got things "planned" without seeking His plans. When I let go and let Him have charge, life changes! Regarding little boys and the potty, I struggled trying to "force" it to happen. When I finally got tired of all the "oopsies", I put the task away for another time. Each of my boys have trained right around the age of three and did it ALL (day & night) in a period of about five days! It was beautiful! What I walked away with from that lesson is that sometimes a little later is better, when they are fully able to "own" the experience. I did the same with my girls and it was so much less stress. I, too, had a new baby when I tried to train my first boy. Too much change going on for him for any success. Then, when I was training my second boy, I, again, had a new baby. Again, NO success. You think I would have learned, but I didn't. I let it go and waited a bit until he was nearly three...SUCCESS with very little effort. Your home has a lot going on right now, perhaps too much for Noah to process. When my second boy was training, he actually moved out of diapers when he was just about two with very little issue...BUT, he stopped all talking. I wrestled with this for a couple of weeks and believe the Lord showed me it was too stressful for him to balance (two years old, new baby brother, no diapers). I put him back in diapers and immediately he started talking again! I would rather him talk than be out of diapers. We waited about nine months and he was good to go! Relax and don't stress about this rather simple issue of life. Let it go for a bit and see what happens! It's a pretty certain guarantee that he won't go to college or even start school with diapers on!! :)

And...about the beautiful dress you made! Just LOVE it! You know, I had a hard time being "kicked out" of the all boy club, but have adapted very well to my "fullhouse" status! (My husband and I like to play Yahtzee when we go camping. During one game, I rolled and realized that a "fullhouse" is three of one kind and two of another...just what I have...3 boys and 2 girls!) Okay, back to the dress! You mentioned about "orders"...how does that work? Do you have pictures of the top of the dress? I'd love to see more! I also have loved your custom bags...simply darling!

Better end for now, since I've taken so much space! Looking forward to hearing from you regarding the dresses!

Fondly, Cathy
